About the book
The anthology ‘The Falcon in the Alps’ by Shaheen Fazal is an earnest tribute to my parents, to whom I owe all my progress and everything in life. Both of them are a beacon of inspiration as they continue to light each step of my way. Coming to my poetic journey, I discovered my heightened sensitivity when I was fifteen. Around that time sanity rattled with sentiment but no external refuge could be found. That is precisely when Allah SWT guided me to surface my emotions—grief and growth being the primary ones— by giving them a home on paper.
Poetry for me underwent synthesis as a medium initially reserved for catharsis only, but with the passage of time it took the form of a vessel to express as well, my views and lessons accumulated in life. In this premise the poems henceforth are a concoction of my observation and growth over the years.

Hats off to this young poet!
Each poem’s narration of emotions is truly state of the art. I have a strong intuition that her work will soon find its rightful place and garner the appreciation it deserves. My heartfelt prayers go out to the families of Martyrs. Highly recommended and is undoubtedly worth the money spent!
